Meet Bali, a remarkable 15-year-old participant in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, whose commitment to helping others is already creating real-world impact.
Driven by a passion for equality and justice, Bali chose to support One Woman at a Time—a charity dedicated to empowering girls to escape early forced marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM). What began as a volunteering requirement quickly became a cause close to her heart.
Alongside friends and family, Bali raised an incredible £800 by completing two demanding Cross Bay Walks from Arnside to Grange-over-Sands—no small feat. She also helped sell raffle tickets at wellbeing events, using every opportunity to raise awareness about the charity’s vital work and the importance of protecting girls’ rights.
Bali’s efforts go beyond fundraising. As a Youth Ambassador for One Woman at a Time, she is helping shine a light on gender-based violence and inspiring others—especially young people—to take action and make a difference. Her enthusiasm, leadership, and compassion are a powerful reminder that age is no barrier to impact.
We’re especially inspired by Bali’s desire to learn more about the charity’s work and her dream to visit Kenya to see first-hand the difference that education and protection can make in girls’ lives.
If you’re a young person looking for a meaningful charity to support as part of your Duke of Edinburgh Award, we highly recommend getting involved with One Woman at a Time and becoming part of their life-changing mission.
Let’s celebrate Bali’s achievements—and cheer her on as she continues to lead with purpose, courage, and kindness.
